QUESTIONS? WE’VE GOT ANSWERS

We understand that you may have questions about EcoRaster Permeable Solutions and how it performs. Below, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions from customers.
What is Ecoraster, and what does it do?
Ecoraster is an eco-friendly, flexible, porous paver made from 100% post-consumer and post-industrial recycled plastics. Ecoraster provides a durable, permeable surface which allows stormwater to filter back into the ground naturally, and maintain ground stabilization. Ecoraster can be used for parking lots, driveways, trails, paddocks, and many other applications.
What is the cost of Ecoraster?

Depending on the model and project size, the cost typically ranges between $3 to $5 USD per square foot (-/+). You can connect with one of our distributors here for a formal quote https://www.Ecorastergrid.com/distributors/

What’s the difference between E50 and E40?
E50 is designed for heavy-duty use and is ideal for construction sites, parking lots, and other industrial-type applications. Physically, it is 2-inches in depth and has thicker side walls than the E40 model

E40 is designed for light to medium-duty projects and is ideal for driveways, paddocks and riding arenas, walkways and trails, and other similar-type applications. Physically, it is 1.6-inch in depth, and has thinner side walls than the E50 model
What is Ecoraster Bloxx?
Ecoraster Bloxx is a patented and beautifully designed permeable grid system that incorporates concrete pavers, allowing for creative and dynamic designs. Its unique safety interlocking feature ensures a smooth solid surface that eliminates bumps and tripping hazards, keeping safety and accessibility in mind. The Bloxx system can also be used in combination with the E50 model (both are 2-inch in depth, allowing for perfect alignment)
Can Ecoraster be installed on a slope?
Yes, Ecoraster can and has been successfully installed on many sloped terrains. Depending on the slope degree, intended usage, and fill material ( i.e. grass/gravel), Ecoraster may or may not require anchoring. We would be happy to provide technical support if you have further questions about this type of application.
How to disassemble Ecoraster?
Is Ecoraster suitable for green parking?
Yes, Ecoraster was designed to work perfectly with grass-type parking. The grid system protects the roots from compaction, ensuring better health and longevity of the grass, and limiting damage.
Can Ecoraster be used in cold-weather climates?
Yes, Ecoraster’s unique properties and locking mechanism allow it to conform to cold weather conditions, such as freeze-thaw cycles, and can be snow plowed with caution.
Can Ecoraster be snow plowed?
Yes, all models can be snow plowed, including the Bloxx model, but caution must be taken to ensure that the edge of the blade does not catch the edge of the grid, or the Bloxx insert. We recommend using a rubber edged blade or spacer pucks when plowing. Smaller surfaces can be blown or hand shoveled.
Can Ecoraster be used for emergency access routes?
Yes, Ecoraster is the perfect solution for emergency access routes because of its superior weight-bearing capabilities. Time is of the essence and Ecoraster ensures excellent ground stability and mud control, allowing for emergency vehicles to access sites quickly and efficiently without sinking or getting stuck.
Who can install Ecoraster?
Anyone can install Ecoraster, including contractors, landscapers and homeowners. Installation does not require a special technician.
Is Ecoraster ADA / AODA compliant?
Yes, all Ecoraster products are ADA / AODA compliant when installed in accordance with ADA and AODA guidelines.
Is there a maintenance schedule to maintain the permeable aspect of the product, such as vacuuming?
No, there is no specific maintenance schedule for Ecoraster. The open cell space is big enough to allow small sediment to wash through, and large objects such as leaves or branches can be raked or blown off the surface.
What is the material composition of Ecoraster?
Ecoraster is made from 100% recycled post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste and has been tested non-toxic to fish and wildlife. Ecoraster is also weatherproof and UV-resistant, making it a fully sustainable green paving alternative.
What type of gravel do you recommend for the base?
The permeability of Ecoraster highly depends on the base course being used. We typically recommend a ¾ inch clear angular stone, no fines.
What makes Ecoraster unique from other permeable pavers?
Our patented locking mechanism is engineered with expansion joints to minimize the effects of temperature change

The superior weight-bearing capabilities – Ecoraster can support up to 800 tonnes/m2 (or 70,000 lbs per sqft)

We offer a 20-year warranty

Ecoraster is UV-resistant and frost proof. It is also resistant to chemicals such as acids, alkalis, alcohol, oil and petrol (de-icing salt, ammonia, acid rain, etc.) These year-round benefits make Ecoraster highly durable and cost-effective.
Is Ecoraster better than asphalt and concrete?
Ecoraster is a permeable paving alternative to costly traditional pavement. It is more affordable, durable, and environmentally friendly than the traditional options.
What colour options are available for Ecoraster?
E40, E50, and Bloxx grids are available in black or Terracotta.
The concrete inserts for the Bloxx grid are available in light gray, while the rubber inserts are available in a variety colours - please inquire.
How does Ecoraster help the environment?
Ecoraster is using 100% post-consumer and post-industrial recycled plastics or low density polyethylene (LDPE), keeping thousands of non-degradable plastic bags out of public landfills.

By design, Ecoraster permeable paving systems allow stormwater to pass through the surface and infiltrate into the ground which helps eliminate polluted runoff, and it also reduces the risk of flooding.
What fill options are available for Ecoraster?
Ecoraster surfaces offer a range of fill options

Ecoraster Green & Microgreen: You can use pre-planted turf, sedum plants, or your own vegetation.

Ecoraster Mineral: Gravel, ballast or crushed stone are the most popular materials for this.

Ecoraster Bloxx: For this system, you can choose between concrete or rubber inserts.
How does Ecoraster help protect animals?
Wet and freezing conditions can endanger the animal welfare, causing them to easily trip and hurt themselves.

Ecoraster helps retain the natural drainage function of the soil and absorb stormwater from heavy rainfalls. It serves as an effective mud management solution that can help get rid of mud in high-traffic areas and keep the animals safe and healthy.
