GTAA – Toronto Pearson Airport

The asphalt edge of the road shoulders at the Toronto Pearson International Airport required reinforcement to reduce ongoing maintenance.

The soft shoulder and asphalt surfaces were prepped to prepare for the Ecoraster Grid pilot project.

Ecoraster E50 was installed after the asphalt and then filled with gravel. As road shoulders are typically smaller surfaces, the installation was extremely efficient.

This area was installed as a pilot project and is now able to withstand high-traffic and reduce wear and tear. It is also able to be plowed with ease in the Winter months. Additionally, the area now provides the first level of infiltration for all runoff from the road which directly reduces environmental impact to roadside vegetation.
